Ohio cornerback and punt return man Travis Carrie was named MAC East Special Teams player of the week after the ‘Cats 44-24 win over New Mexico State on Saturday.
The California native only had two punt returns, but he made them count, averaging 35.5 yards per return and taking one 65 yards for a touchdown.
Carrie is the first Bobcat to return a punt for a TD since LaVon Brazill did it in 2009 against Kent State. Carrie currently leads the MAC in return yard average.
Carrie and the Bobcats have their home opener this weekend, hosting Gardner-Webb at Peden Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
