Scott Warner is the new director of the Athens County 911 Center.

He was hired this morning at the Athens County Commissioners meeting.

Former Athens County 911 Director Doug Bentley resigned last month just after the Athens County Firefighters Association put out a news release that was critical of 911 Center operations.

Commissioner Lenny Eliason says Warner has been the interim director since Bentley resigned.

He'll make $45,780 a year.

Eliason says his official start date is today.

Warner has worked for Athens County 911 since March, 2006.

Warner was one of four who applied for the position.

The others were Susan Emmert of Wellston, Dan Pfeiffer of Nelsonville and Robert Deardorff of Athens. Emmert and Pfeiffer currently work for Athens County EMS, while  Deardorff works for Athens County 911.

Eliason says Warner was the only candidate all three commissioners could agree on to interview.
