On this edition of Conversations from Studio B, Maureen Wagner and Ruth Bradley discuss "I Put A Spell On You: Music on Film," a week-long mix of dramas, musicals and documentaries that celebrate the union of music and film, showing at the Athena Cinema starting Oct. 20.
The series runs the gamut, from a sing-along version of Grease to Ingmar Bergman's Magic Flute to a new critically-acclaimed documentary about the hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest (the scheduled films are listed below, via their original marquee posters).
The series will conclude on Oct. 27 with a special screening of the F.W. Murnau silent film classic Nosferatu, with live music accompaniment by the Ohio University New Music Ensemble/No Brow Collective.
Admission is free for students from Ohio University, Hocking College and area high schools, courtesy of Arts for Ohio. Regular ticket prices apply for non-students. A program is available at the Athena Cinema or visit http://www.athenacinema.com for more information.
