The Gallia Academy Blue Devils and their star running back Brandon Taylor stormed into Chillicothe on Friday night, using a tactical power-run game and a solid defensive performance to take the game by a score 19-7.

Taylor was a driving force of the game from the very first drive, bulldozing his way through the Cavalier defense play after play. He led the 72-yard touchdown drive that spanned over the first 7:52 of the game, capping the offensive series with a two-yard scoring run.

Taylor would go on to score the game-winning points of the game for the Blue Devils on a one-yard touchdown run right up the middle.  The power run was a thematic play all night from the offense of Gallia. The running back would finish the night with a total of 175 yards on 24 carries.

The game took a chaotic turn after Gallia’s first score. Chillicothe responded with a creative trick play when the Cavalier quarterback Ryan Mathis threw a pass to wide out Zach Johnson who turned and immediately lateralled the ball to fellow receiver Jalen Jones for a 48-yard gain. Two plays later, Mathis connected with Johnson again for a 35-yard touchdown reception.

The Blue Devils responded however with a five-play drive that featured a 44-yard run by Taylor. His second touchdown would put Gallia up for good. The Blue Devil defense shut out the Cavs for the rest of the game.
