Ohio improved to 6-0 and has the first place spot in the MAC after defeating both Akron and Buffalo last weekend. The wins came with a lot of help from freshman Kelly Lamberti, who was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week.
Against Akron on Friday night, Lamberti tallied a match-high 17 kills along with 10 digs in the Bobcats sweep of the Zips. It didn’t end there for Lamberti. She had a team-high 16 kills against Buffalo and dug the ball 16 times against the Bulls to help the Bobcats win their sixth conference match this season, 3-1 over the Bulls.
Lamberti leads the team in double-doubles with nine, two of which came over the weekend. Heading into the matches, Lamberti was sixth in the MAC in kills per set with a 3.20 average. She is also ranked sixth in points with a 3.89 average per set and in MAC play, Lamberti was fourth with 0.42 service aces per set.
