The women’s golf season is officially over for Ohio University, but it ended with a positive result.

The Lady Bobcats finished fourth in the Zippy Invitational, finishing behind host Akron, Eastern Kentucky, and Bowling Green.

After a slow start, in which the Lady Bobcats shot a combined 331 on day one, they came out with a vengeance in the final round and shot a combined 312.

Leading the way for Ohio was senior Megan Weaver, who finished second overall in the tournament. Weaver shot an opening round 73 and stayed consistent in her final round shooting a 74 to shoot a tournament total of 147.

Weaver was tied for the lead after the first round and was by far the top Ohio golfer in the tournament.

Next best for Ohio was Megan Weaver’s twin sister, Meryl Weaver. After Meryl’s poor opening round 88, she responded by improving by 17 strokes in her final round to shoot a 71 (159).

Her 17-stroke improvement was the 2nd best improvement in the tournament as only Youngstown State golfer Angela Molaskey improved by more (25-strokes).

Sarah Tranelli finished just behind Weaver for the Bobcats as she shot back-to-back rounds of 81 to finish with a tournament total of 162.

The Lady Bobcats now enter their offseason, and get started again in the spring.
