The Bobcats are back on a winning streak this weekend after they traveled to Miami University (OH) on Sunday for their last road game of the regular season. Ohio defeated the Redhawks 3-0. The Bobcats also beat Bowling Green this weekend 3-2.
The Bobcats took off running in the first set, getting an early four-point lead. But Miami was just warming up, and met them at 9-9 after back-to-back kills by Cassie Farrell. Ohio fought back with a huge block from Katie Post and Bailey Karst, which gave the Bobcats the momentum to take and maintain the lead once again. Ohio won the first set 25-20.
Ohio struggled to keep a big lead on the Redhawks in set two. Although the Bobcats started with a small lead and were able to hold the Redhawks to a tie at most, a kill from Miami’s Amy Raseman took Miami over the top. Ohio continued to fight, but were finally able to regain an edge after a Kelly Lamberti kill to bring Ohio up 21-20. The teams met again at game point, and took the set into an exciting overtime stretch. Ohio took the second set 28-26.
Again, Ohio was able to take an early three-point lead in the third set, shortly followed by a five-point run by the Bobcats putting Miami down 9-2. Ohio continued to pound on Miami holding them below double digits the majority of the set. As Ohio reached game point, Miami fought back, scoring three straight points on the Bobcats. A final kill by Serena Warner brought the match to a close and the Bobcats to another victory. Ohio finished the third set 25-14.
The Bobcats are now 17-9 for the season and 9-3 in the MAC and clinched first place in the East Division. Ohio takes on Kent State at home on Thursday, November 3.
