After graduating their two leading scorers from last season, the Trimble Lady Tomcats will turn to defense this season in an attempt to win a TVC-Hocking championship.

Coach Dave Richards hopes that the Lady Cats can play team defense this season after going 11-9 overall and 10-6 in the TVC-Hocking last season. The main team goal this season will be holding opposing teams to under forty points per game. The team will be turning to their three returning seniors—Jana Cain, Johanna Couch, and Kelsey Brown—for leadership on defense and offense.

Trimble is hoping to turn a tenacious defense into a very successful offense. The Cats’ goal on defense is to steal the ball as many times as possible, which in turn will lead to a potent fast break offense.

Taking hold of the offensive reigns this season will be sophomore point guard Tia Savage. Coach Richards said that he expects Tia to step up and fill the vacancy that her sister Taylor left behind. The main focus of the Lady Tomcats over the offseason was to improve shooting as a team. With all the extra practice that the team has put in over the offseason, coach Richards says he expects nothing less than at least six or eight points per player. He also expects each player to be a threat around the perimeter, but also have the grit to drive to the basket.

The Lady Tomcats kickoff their regular season at Eastern High School against the Lady Eagles on December 1st.
