An Athens man is recovering from a gunshot wound after police say he was robbed at his home on North Congress Street.

Athens Police Chief Tom Pyle says Jeff Mente, 34, was shot in the leg during an altercation with the suspects around 12:15 this morning.

The two men bound Mente and his wife, Lauren, while they robbed the home and then fled.

Pyle says police do not have a suspect at this time because the individuals were wearing ski masks at the time of the robbery.

Pyle says he believes the incident was an isolated case and not a random act.

Mente was treated and released from O'Bleness Memorial Hospital.
