Coal mining is a major part of the History of southeastern Ohio and now you can hear about it in a new way.

The Little Cities of Black Diamonds Project is working to inform people about the history of this area, which includes communities in southern Perry County, northern Athens County and eastern Hocking County.

Bernhard Debatin, an Ohio University professor of journalism, has joined forces with this council.

He says that the project is going to allow people to learn about these areas through the development of an audio tour.

Debatin says that the virtual tour will offer videos and slideshows.

This project has been made possible because of a a planning grant from the National Endowment for Humanities.
