Trimble looks to continue their playoff run as the nine-seed this Wednesday as they have a tough matchup with the Southern Tornadoes. Southern comes in as the one-seed and are the overwhelming favorite with a 17-3 record. But this is a familiar opponent for the Tomcats, as they have played them twice this year, falling to the Tornadoes in both matchups.

In the first matchup, Southern cashed in 69 points and held Trimble to 51 in Glouster. But the second meeting at Southern was a very different outcome.  The entire game was led by the Tornadoes as they cruised to a 75-35 victory.

One main focus for the Tomcats in this final matchup is defense. They must defend the paint well and close out on all shots. The Tornadoes averaged 72 points against the Tomcats this year, so for Trimble to pull the dramatic upset, they must contain the Tornadoes potent offense. A key for the Tomcats will be to finish the possession by crashing the boards to make sure Southern's offense doesn’t get second or third chances.

On offense, Trimble will need spectacular play out of Cyrus Jones. He stepped up in the win against Miller and showed he can lead the team on offense. Look for him to lead the hungry Tomcats who will also continue to work the ball inside to junior Cody Bragg, who finished the Miller game with 8 points and 11 rebounds.

The third time was the charm for the Tomcats against Miller, and they hope the third time will lead to the same result Wednesday night to pull off the upset.
