A Buchtel man who was assaulted in Chauncey on Wednesday and left unconcious has died.

Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly said Harley Aaron Pruitt, 20, died at approximately 1:45 p.m. Friday at Grant Hospital in Columbus.

Gary Wooten, 20, of Glouster, who was arrested shortly after the assault and charged with felonious assault, has now been charged with murder.

Wooton was transported to South East Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville and placed under a $50,000 bond.

Statements given to detectives said the two were involved in an altercation approximately four years ago in high school.

Kelly said a number of people were present at the 61 Main Street Chauncey residence at the time of the incident, where the situation escalated from a verbal exchange to a fist fight.

The Franklin County Coroner has ordered an autopsy and toxicology.
