Scioto County sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal shooting that took place late Thursday night in Wheelersburg.

Sheriff Marty Donini says his officers responded to a 911 call to a house at 9550 Old Gallia Pike around 10:20 p.m.

The caller told dispatchers that his son had been involved in a shooting.

Donini says Tyler Staker, 22, of Portsmouth, and his father had gone to the house to re-posess a piece of equipment from their business.  The pair spent more than an hour knocking on the door, trying to get an answer.

Detectives say 33-year-old Steve Holsinger came onto the porch with a gun in his hand and threatened Staker and his father, saying they had three seconds to get off his property.

He also pointed his gun at Staker's face.

Witnesses say Staker then shot Holsinger several times.

Holsinger was pronounced dead at the scene.

No charges have been filed in the case.

Donini says the investigation will be presented to the Grand Jury pending autopsy results.

Holsinger's body has been sent to the Montgomery County Morgue and evidence is being sent to the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.
