The Agriculture Deputy Under Secretary for Rural Development will travel to three cities in southeast Ohio Friday to announce two grants and a loan.

Doug O'Brien says the funding is meant "to promote economic growth, create jobs and strengthen local communities."

The Foundation for Appalachia Ohio in Nelsonville is getting a grant "to provide technical assistance to nine Appalachian Communities."

WSOS Community Action Commission in Oak Hill is also receiving a grant "to assist 11 rural communities."

O'Brien will announce how much money those two organizations will get Friday.

He is also expected to highlight a recent loan to the Gallia County Commissioners.

The $744,000 loan will go toward the purchase of an existing building that the Gallia County Department of Job and Family Services will use.
