Ohio kicker Matt Weller has been named the MAC East Special Teams Player of the Week. Weller went 3 for 4 on field goal attempts against New Mexico State, hitting from 37, 25 and 26 yards out.

His only miss was blocked by the Aggies right before the first half ended. He also was six for six on extra point attempts. Weller kicked 10 kickoffs for an average of 61.6 yards, he recorded three touchbacks.

Weller became Ohio’s all-time leading scorer in the game, surpassing Kareem Wilson in a 51-24 defeat of New Mexico State. “It’s an honor…it’s humbling,” said Weller of his accomplishment.

Weller and the Bobcats will travel to Huntington, West Virginia to take on Marshall in their next game on Sept. 15.
