The recent Athens visit from Vice-President Joe Biden cost the city nearly $3000.
In response to an inquiry by WOUB News, Athen Service Safety Director Paula Horan Moseley said today that Athens spent around $1000 for extra police personnel and around $900 for extra fire department personnel.
Also nearly $800 was spent for public works personnel to set-up and take down extra traffic control devices.
Moseley also reports the city was paid $600 for room rental at the Athens Community Center where Biden appeared.
Mosely says the money spent that weekend "was not a high dollar amount to ensure the Vice-President of the United States get in and out of our community safely."
