Details about the winter break between Christmas and New Year's Day for most Ohio University employees have been announced.

According to a news release, the break is designed to reward and recognize the employees on all campuses.

The guidelines say the closure will take place from Dec. 25 through Jan. 1.

Faculty and staff members will take Dec. 26 as a paid holiday instead of President's Day. Employees will be given two extra paid days off, but will use one personal vacation day in addition to the weekends and university holidays.

Most university buildings will be closed during the break except for some facility buildings and a predetermined set of residence and dining halls serving international students and athletes.

Full guidelines and frequently asked questions were developed by a special committee and can be found here on the University Human Resources website.

The winter break closure policies only apply to administrative and non-bargaining classified staff.

President McDavis first announced the winter break closure in April.
