Scioto County voters in the Green Local School District will decide a five-year emergency tax levy this November.

School District Treasurer John Walsh says their situation concerning this seven mill levy is extremely urgent.

Walsh says since the beginning of the 2006 – 2007 school year, the school district has had to cut more than 19 full time jobs.

Walsh says the funds this levy will generate will go towards general upkeep including but not limited to: utilities, transportation and teachers salaries.

The county's auditor has estimated this levy will generate $475,000 a year for the school district.

Walsh says the school district has had to make so many cuts that it is currently operating on barebones, and that if this levy doesn't pass, it will impact the community directly.
