A man accused in a string of Athens County robberies that took place between March and July of this year has pleaded guilty to all charges and will serve five years in prison.

James Whiteman, 30, of The Plains changed his plea of not guilty to guilty Friday. He was charged with multiple counts of robbery and breaking and entering.

Athens County prosecutor Keller Blackburn said Whiteman entered the Maplewood on East State Street in Athens without permission on two separate occasions in March and June, demanding and taking cash from the register.

Blackburn said Whiteman also robbed a series of Athens County gas stations, including an Athens Speedway in July, a Guysville Marathon in April, a Chauncey Marathon in June and Chauncey's T's Quick Stop in July.
