Voters will be able to cast their ballots on the Sunday before Election Day for the first time in Athens County.

The Athens County Board of Elections Director Debbie Quivey said they will be open for in-person voting the Saturday, Sunday and Monday before November 6.

"We have never been open in Athens County of Sunday before, she said.  "So it will effect us having to have staff here. We already have that taken care of though."

The Board of Elections will be open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Board of Elections for Washington, Muskingum, and Fairfield counties have similar hours.

Quivey said that they usually use Sunday and Monday to deliver supplies.

Now, they now have extra staff to help on those days.

She also wants to encourage people to vote.

"Exercise your right come out and vote,"  Quivey said.  "We will be here this weekend and it would be nice to see some people come and vote early so it's worth our while to be here."
