People in Vinton County can voice their opinions on a new electrical transmission project.

AEP Ohio is proposing to construct a 138 kilovolt transmission line to replace exiting distribution lines.

The Ohio Power Siting Board is setting up the hearing.

The Board's Public Outreach Manager Matt Butler said the feedback will affect the final decision.

"That information provides the board with input about the reaction of the local community to the project and then becomes part of the official record the board considers before it makes its decision," Butler said.  "If passed, the lines will be installed in Vinton County, and possibly Jackson County as well."

Butler said AEP is behind the project.

"Well, the company has filed the project to improve, upgrade, the level of service within the area and improve distribution reliability essentially," Butler said.

The public hearing will be at the Vinton County Building in McArthur on December 6 at 6 p.m.
