Workers at a Jackson County Ohio coal mine still face potential layoffs at the end of the year.

But the company that owns the mine said it will not have to shut down operations at the end of the year.

Scott Morris, Rhino Resource Partners' Vice President of Investor Relations said the company is trying to get additional contracts to keep all 114 miners on the job.

Two weeks ago, miners were told they could be laid off after December 31st.

Morris said low natural gas prices and weak conditions in the coal market are influencing the potential layoffs.
