Four families are homeless Wednesday morning after an apartment fire near the University of Rio Grande.
The fire was reported just after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley View Apartments.
Rio Grande Mayor Matt Easter says no one was hurt.
Eight apartments were on fire. Some of the units were undergoing renovations.
Firefighters are investigating what caused the fire.
Dispatchers say Route 325 was closed in both directions while crews were on the scene, but it is now reopened.
Arrangements are being made to house some of the displaced families in dorms at the University of Rio Grande.
The university is about 12 miles northwest of Gallipolis.
