West Virginia Regional Jail officials have suspended 15 guards at the Western Regional Jail.
Executive director of the Regional Jail Authority Joe DeLong says the guards are accused of everything from violence to bringing contraband into the jail.
He says a buddy system was in place where innocent guards were covering up the actions of guilty guards.
Those actions included guards using excessive force on inmates, even causing broken bones and a collapsed lung in one case.
Officials say more suspensions and firings are possible.
