Allen Richmond, an adjunct music faculty member at Ohio University-Chillicothe, is conducting the orchestra for the Chillicothe Civic Theater’s production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at the Majestic Theater.

Richmond, who joined the OU-C faculty in 2009, earned his bachelor’s degree of music in theory/composition, cum laude, from Ohio University and his master’s degree in orchestral/choral conducting, summa cum laude, from the Kansas City Conservatory of Music.

He has conducted, performed and taught both nationally and abroad. This past summer, Richmond studied organs and cathedral music throughout Europe.

The Chillicothe Civic Theater (CCT) Orchestra is an all-volunteer ensemble comprised of musicians from Chillicothe, Ross County and several surrounding counties.

"With musicians of various backgrounds and experiences, it is my privilege and joy as conductor to bring these people together musically to support the cast and crew of CCT in live musical theater," Richmond said.

"It is very gratifying to me to be able to take a number of people from all kinds of musical backgrounds and shape them into a performing ensemble worthy of their accolades," he added. "I like to think of myself artistically as a musical facilitator: I guide musicians through the joys of learning and translating written musical symbology — the notes, rests and instructions of music — into a living, memorable collaboration, and then sharing that experience with our audiences."

Show times for the production are 7:30 p.m. through Dec. 8 and a 2 p.m. matinee on Dec. 9. Visit the Chillicothe Civic Theatre's web site for tickets and information.
