Behind the 40 points of seniors Max Carney and Shawn Parsons, the Federal Hocking Lancers shot their way to a 54-46 victory over the Alexander Spartans.

Carney dominated in the paint, controlled the boards and shot 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.  The Lancers big man scored 26 points, snagged nine rebounds, and even blocked four shots.

Carney’s effort was accompanied by a stellar performance from he and his Lancer teammates. Parsons knocked down nine of his ten free throw attempts, contributing the team’s 15-for-20 free throw performance.

The Alexander’s below average 37 percent shooting from the field along with going 3-of-16 from beyond the arc didn’t help their cause.

Senior Branden Jones led the Spartans in scoring with 13 points, but the 6-foot-2 forward was the lone Spartan in double figures.

In addition to Alexander’s poor shooting, the now 3-8 Spartans were out-hustled on the glass, losing the rebounding battle 28-to-10. They have a tough matchup up against an even bigger Athens squad when they take the court again Friday night.

While Alexander tries to turn their season around, tonight’s win moves the Lancers to 8-3 on the year and keeps them atop the TVC-Hocking standings. Coach Caldwell’s squad takes on a struggling South Gallia team this Friday night in Stewart.
