The Ohio Attorney General's office announced Friday a schedule of active shooter training sessions for educators around the state.

The courses do not include firearm training.

"The goal of these courses is to give our teachers and school staff ideas on what to look for and how to respond if the unthinkable happens,"  said Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.  "We hope our educators never have to apply this training, but we want them to be prepared."

The sessions will take place between January 17 and February 25.

In Southeast Ohio, educators can sign up for courses at the Athens/Meigs County Educational Service Center in Chaucey.

That training opportunity will take place on February 7.

Teachers can register on the Ohio Department of Education's website.
