Thousands In WV Without Electricity

Thousands of Appalachian Power customers in West Virginia are without electricity as a winter storm dumps up to 8 inches of snow on parts of the state.

According to the Appalachian Power outage map 2,370 customers in Cabell County are without power. In Wayne county 1,117 customers are in the dark.

Schools were cancelled Friday for at least 40 of the state’s 55 counties.

In Southeast Ohio drivers are urged to use caution with wind gusts and freezing temperatures hampering efforts by Ohio Department of Transportation snowplows.

ODOT officials in District 9 report roadways will be snow covered and could be icy due to “freezebacks.”

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports several minor accidents due to slick road conditions as of 7:30 a.m. Friday.

According to AEP Ohio’s outage map 252 customers in Muskingum County are without power.

The weather forecast calls for up to three inches of snow on Saturday.
