The road to The Convo for area high school girls basketball teams was paved Sunday afternoon with the announcement of seedings for sectional tournaments.

In Division II, the Athens Lady Bulldogs received a No. 3 seed in the Meigs Sectional, where they will play the Sheridan Lady Generals on February 14 at 8 p.m. at Meigs High School. The Lady Bulldogs are eager to put last year's early exit in the tournament behind them and advance to the district semifinals at the Convocation Center.

Division II, Meigs Sectional

Division III, Jackson Sectional

In Division III, a pair of familiar foes will square off when the No. 5 Nelsonville-York Lady Buckeyes face off with the No. 12 Alexander Lady Spartans in the Jackson Sectional. The game will be played at Jackson High School on February 11 at 8:30 p.m. The Lady Bucks swept the season series in conference play, however the past has shown that anything can happen come tournament time. The Wellston Lady Rockets ended up with the No. 9 seed and will play No. 8 Chesapeake in the opening round. The Meigs Marauders have a long road ahead, as they face off with No. 2 Ironton in the first round.

Division IV, Athens Sectional

Teams in Division IV will be keeping it close to home in the Athens Sectional, which is led at the top by a three-headed monster of TVC-Hocking teams: No. 1 Eastern, No. 2 Waterford, and No. 3 South Gallia. Federal Hocking will look to recapture some of their playoff magic from last year when they take the floor at McAfee Gymnasium on February 11 at 5 p.m. They will be followed by No. 10 Trimble taking on No. 7 Symmes Valley at 8:30 p.m. later that night.

Hardwood Heroes will have you covered throughout the tournament with up-to-the-minute score and schedule updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Don't forget to tune in to WOUB at 11 Sunday or 6 p.m. Monday for another edition of Hardwood Heroes, which will feature previews of the girls playoff matchups.
