This year the Trimble Lady Tomcats will be taking on Symmes Valley in the first round of the sectional playoffs. It will be an interesting match for Trimble as they have had to pull from the depths of their bench to be able to compete in their most recent matches.

Unfortunately, they have been on a losing streak lately. However their last win against Federal Hocking has given them some momentum leading up to the playoffs.

This win against the Lady Lancers really encouraged the Lady Tomcats and made head coach Dave Richards a very proud man.

“This is a big win for us, they beat us earlier in the year and I was proud of the kids because they are a young team,” he said.

He was especially proud of senior Demi Moore for the way she has led the team this season and encouraged the girls in the game. “Demi stepped her game up as a senior and kept them going and just kept saying ‘don’t let them beat us, don’t give up,’”

When Richards found out that his team would be facing Symmes Valley in the first playoff game, he looked forward to the game with optimistic positivity.

“I think that’s a beatable team for us. I think if we come out with that kind of intensity they are beatable,” he said.

Looking even further into the future, if the Tomcats were to win against Symmes they would most likely be playing Waterford. This is a team that has been very tough this year and has beaten Trimble both times they have faced off on the hardwood.

“Its hard to get your kids prepared to play knowing you have that in the wings,” coach Richards said.

However, he also realizes his team is young and remains very positive about the future of the Lady Tomcats. “Get your tournament win and we’re young so maybe we’ll have a couple more.”
