The Akron Zips (22-4, 12-0 MAC) checked in at No. 24 in the latest USA Today coaches poll released earlier today, marking the first time the Zips have cracked the Top 25 in any poll this season. In the AP poll, the Zips garnered 43 votes to improve to No. 28.

Akron won its 18th straight game on Friday night against North Dakota State, 68-53. The winning streak is currently the longest in men's D-I basketball; the last time the Zips lost was Dec. 15 to Horizon League foe Detroit.

Akron's next test will come Wednesday night in Athens against Ohio (20-7, 11-1 MAC). Jim Christian's Bobcats are certainly looking for revenge after falling decisively to the Zips in the J.A.R. back on Feb. 7, 86-72. The Zips' trip to Southeastern Ohio will mark the first time a ranked team has visited the Bobcats since No. 6 Kentucky on Dec. 30 1997 according to Ohio Athletics.

The last time a ranked MAC team visited the Convo was No. 23 Eastern Michigan on Jan. 31, 1996. Ohio is 3-4 all-time at home against ranked opponents.
