The West Virginia School Building Authority is being asked to fund more than $159 million worth of school construction and repair projects in 20 counties.

The requests include more than $15 million for a new middle school in Jackson County and about $11 million for a new elementary school in Gilmer County.

11 county school superintendents presented their requests to the authority on Monday. Another nine superintendents are scheduled to submit requests Tuesday.

Also Monday, Logan County returned $9 million that the authority had awarded in 2012 to build a new elementary school. The project was delayed by selection of a site.
