The Ohio women’s golf team finished seventh out of seven squads at the Angola Shootout on Saturday, shooting a team 328 (+40) in the one day, one-round event.
Lauren McKinzie and Kristen Helmsdoerfer tied for the best score for the Bobcats, with both ladies shooting a 79 on the day. Their scores were good enough for them to be tied for 16th overall in a field of 51 competitors. McKinzie’s 79 was a career-low and was the first top-20 finish in the freshman’s career.
Julie Lechner and Kara Brinkmann both shot an 82, tying them with three other women for 29th overall. Both Brinkmann and Helmsdoerfer had three birdies in the two rounds of play, tying them for the most in the field.
Angela Codian was 13 over par with an 85 and Sarah Tranelli shot an 87, rounding out Ohio’s team.
Ball State finished first in the Shootout, finishing with a 308, just one stroke under fellow MAC school Toledo.
The Bobcats will be playing in the MAC Championship Tournament at Nashport, Ohio from April 26-28.
