A federal judge is hearing final motions from both sides before starting the trial of a Virginia woman charged with embezzling more than $1 million in horse racing funds from a West Virginia casino and racetrack.

Anita Ambler of Reva, Va., faces 11 counts of mail fraud, 10 counts of wire fraud and four counts of transacting in criminal proceeds.

U.S. District Judge Frederick P. Stamp has scheduled a motions hearing Monday afternoon.

The trial is set to begin Tuesday in Wheeling.

Ambler is charged with embezzling the money from Mountaineer Race Track & Gaming Resort in Chester over several years.

Prosecutors say Ambler covered her thefts with fake entries in Mountaineer's accounting system, and that she spent about $200,000 on a home and 5 acres in Virginia.
