Ohio freshman Savannah Jo Dorsey set a career high with 12 stirkeouts in a complete game shutout of Akron on April 20. Ohio won the game, 6-0.

One day after completing a sweep of four weekend games, Ohio Softball swept the MAC East weekly awards, the league office announced Monday. Freshman pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey was named the MAC East Pitcher of the Week, and senior Chelsea Hortman earned MAC East Player of the Week.

The Bobcats have now earned nine Pitcher/Player of the Week awards this season.

Dorsey’s third award of the season comes off a sensational week for the Ohio softball team. She dominated in the Bobcats' game at Akron Saturday, tossing a complete game, three hit-shutout, which led to an important 6-0 win.

Dorsey finished the week with 43 strikeouts, allowing 19 hits and 13 walks over 28.2 innings in four appearances.

This marks Hortman’s first MAC award of the season. She was the key to Ohio’s offensive force this week leading the Bobcats in RBI with eight and slugging percentage of 1.000.
