Three Ohio Softball Players Named All-MAC

On Tuesday, the Mid-American Conference released its softball regular season awards, and the Ohio Bobcats saw three of their own recognized.

Senior catcher Lauren Gellerman was named First Team All-MAC, after an outstanding season for Ohio. Gellerman carried a .416 batting average, while hitting 24 home runs, 56 runs batted in, and posting 10 doubles in 53 starts this season. Gellerman was also named the MAC East player of the week four times.

Senior Chelsea Hortman was named to the All-MAC Second Team, after a career year. Hortman was second on the team with a .319 batting average, while hitting five home runs and driving in 18 runs. Hortman had also previously been named MAC East Player of the Week for the span of April 15-21, where she hit two home runs and drove in a team-high eight runs.

The Bobcats’ lone representative on the MAC All-Freshman Team was pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey. The freshman proved to be the Bobcats’ ace of the staff, posting a record of 14-9, with an ERA of 3.49 and throwing a team-high 10 complete games.  Dorsey was also a three-time winner of the MAC East Pitcher of the Week.

The Bobcats begin the MAC tournament on Wednesday, as they take on Bowling Green at 1:30 p.m.
