The Marietta College Pioneers, despite losing the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament as the top seed, were selected as the No. 2 seed in the Mideast Regional in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament.
Marietta dropped two games to the Otterbein Cardinals in the OAC Tournament to lose the postseason event for the first time in three years. However, the Pioneers’ 29-12 regular season record combined with a 15-3 OAC mark earned them the at-large bid.
The Pioneers will play the No. 7 Penn State Behrend Lions of Erie, Penn., on Wednesday at Art Nehf Field in Terre Haute, Ind. The start time is to be determined.
The Mount Union Purple Raiders won the OAC Tournament, earning them the No. 8 seed in the Mideast Regional.
