The Meigs County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of an armed robbery that took place Thursday in Tuppers Plains.

The Athens Messenger reports that Farmer's Bank on State Route 7 reported at 3:51 p.m. that it had been robbed of an undisclosed amount of money by an unknown person. The suspect, according to investigators, is said to be a male in his early to mid-20s and was wearing a red T-shirt with a Nike swoosh emblem on the front. He has brown hair and facial hair in the form of a small goatee.

After the robbery, the suspect fled in what may be an older model red or marron four-door car.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect was seen in the area prior to the robbery and made several statements that he was not from the area.

Friday, Sgt. Bill Gilkey told The Messenger that there have been no further updates in the case but did add that no one was injured in the incident.

Surveillance cameras were able to capture an image of the suspect.

Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation is asked to contact the Meigs County Sheriff's Office.
