A Chauncey man faces a felony assault charge for chocking his girlfriend with a cell phone cord.

Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly says Cory Ringer, 25, admitted chocking his girlfriend during an interview with deputies.

Kelly says deputies received a call Sunday around 3:30 p.m. about female being held against her will at a house on Main Street.

Deputies say the girlfriend told them Ringer chocked her with the cord and held a knife to her neck.

Ringer is at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail charged with felony assault and kidnapping.
