Up-and-coming Americana trio Underhill Rose is set to make its Athens, Ohio, debut this Friday, Aug. 16 at the Casa Cantina.
The group is currently touring in support of its sophomore album, Something Real, which recently reached #18 on the Americana Music Association charts.
Formed in Asheville, N.C. in 2009, Underhill Rose is comprised of Eleanor Underhill (banjo, harmonies, lead vocals), Molly Rose (guitar, lead vocals) and Salley Williamson (upright bass, backing vocals).
Over the past few years, the trio have toured throughout the Southeast, sharing the stage with such acts as Jim Lauderdale, Col. Bruce Hampton, Blackberry Smoke and Kevn Kinney of Drivin' and Cryin'.
Billed as "heartfelt country soul," the group blends aspects of Americana, rhythm and blues, country and bluegrass with "indelible pop hooks and soulful harmonizing," according to nodepression.com.
Columbus folk group The Redbuds will open the show at 10:30 p.m. For information about Underhill Rose, visit www.underhillrose.com.
