The Mid-American Conference released its annual Women’s Soccer Coaches Poll, and the Bobcats were predicted to finish third in the MAC East behind Miami (OH) and Kent State.
Ohio earned 40 points and received zero first-place votes in the preseason poll. The Bobcats finished third last season in the MAC East with a 3-6-1 record. Their season finished in a 1-0 loss in the first round to Miami in the conference tournament.
The RedHawks were chosen as the favorite to repeat as MAC Tournament champions, as they return a young squad from last season that went 20-3-1 overall.
Toledo was predicted to finish first in the MAC West, receiving 58 points and four first-place votes. Eastern Michigan (four first-place votes) and Central Michigan (three-first place votes) were close behind with 52 and 50 points, respectively.
The Bobcats officially start the Aaron Rodgers era on Friday, Aug. 23, against Indiana at Chessa Field. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. The game is the first of a three-game home stretch for Ohio.
