Ohio governor John Kasich declared Wednesday "Let Freedom Ring Day" in honor of the 50th anniversary of the "March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom" and Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have A Dream" speech.
“The highlight of the 1963 March on Washington was Dr. King’s groundbreaking speech, ‘I Have A Dream’, which he gave while standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial," Kasich said in an emailed release. "This speech will forever be recorded in the annals of history as a pivotal contribution to the advancement of civil rights for African Americans in the United States."
