A 13-year-Scioto County boy has been charged with allegedly raping a 5-year-old girl.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini says deputies received a call early Tuesday morning from a woman saying her daughter had been sexually assault.
The victim was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment and then transferred to Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe.
The teen will not be charged as an adult. Under Ohio law a suspect must be at least 14 years old to be charged as an adult.
Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn says the teen has been charged with deliquency in juvenile court. Kuhn said the teen would be facing first degree felony rape charge if he was facing adult charges.
