Following a successful weekend in Western Kentucky, Ohio Volleyball received the No. 24 ranking in Monday’s AVCA Coaches poll with 152 points.

Not only is this the first time the Bobcats have been ranked this season, but it is the first time the team has appeared in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll since the 2007 season.

The Bobcats’ rise in the polls can be attributed in part to their clinching of the Western Kentucky Invitational tournament title, which they claimed in a 3-2 win over Virginia Saturday night.

The Bobcats went 3-0 this past weekend and improved to 8-1 on the season.

Wins over UNLV, then-No. 21 Western Kentucky, and Virginia in the tournament gave the Bobcats enough to claim the title.

Ohio’s 3-0 win over WKU marked the first the first time the Hilltoppers were swept at home since 2010.

The Bobcats started off the season 4-0, including a win over then-No. 8 Oregon, winning each match without dropping a set. In three-set matches, the Bobcats are a perfect 7-0.

Ohio’s first and only loss of the season came against No. 15 North Carolina in the Baymont Inn Invitational, snapping Ohio’s four-match win streak. Since the loss, Ohio has won four straight matches.

This Friday, the Bobcats head north to Ann Arbor, Michigan, to compete in the Michigan Invitational, ending with a face-off against No. 10 Michigan Saturday night.
