Gallia Academy notched its third consecutive win Friday night, downing the Marietta Tigers at home, 45-16.

A packed Memorial Field witnessed a quick start from the Blue Devils, as they went up 21-0 in the second quarter and never looked back.

Senior quarterback Wade Jarrell picked apart Marietta’s secondary, going 11-for-17 for 124 yards and three scores.

One of those touchdowns went to wide receiver Reid Eastman, who also returned a 35-yard punt for a touchdown later in the second quarter to give the Blue Devils a three-touchdown advantage.

On the other side, Marietta’s four turnovers prevented them from closing the gap. Tiger quarterback Anthony Kimbrough threw an interception and completed just one of nine pass attempts for for 5 yards on the night.

The Tigers found success on the ground, racking up 145 yards and two touchdowns among six different rushers. The Blue Devils kept up with Marietta’s rushing attack, chalking up 175 yards of their own.

With the loss, the Tigers drop to 1-3 on the year and will travel to Parkersburg next Friday.

Gallia Academy improves to 3-1 and will look for its fourth win in a row at Vinton County next week.
