A Pomeroy man was arrested on two counts of attempted murder on Thursday morning after an altercation at his residence on Route 143.

According to Meigs County Sheriff Keith Wood, Neal D. Bonecutter, 41, allegedly shot Allen Brickles in the lower leg and allegedly shot at Melissa Dickens as she fled the residence. The incident was reported at 4:16 a.m. on Thursday.

A news release from the Meigs County Sheriff’s Office said Brickles was taken by emergency medical service to Holzer Medical Center and later transferred to Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W.Va.

On Thursday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said Brickles had been discharged.

According to the sheriff, a search of the residence of Bonecutter and Dickens allegedly turned up drugs and a large amount of cash. Additional charges are pending.
