Soccer: Ohio Draws With Cleveland State, 0-0

The Ohio soccer team had a season-high 24 shots against Cleveland State on Friday night, but none of them found the back of the net, as the Bobcats (4-2-2) and the Vikings (5-4-1) fought through two overtimes to finish tied, 0-0.

The opportunities were there all game for Ohio, as they forced Cleveland State goalie Sarah Wood to make 11 saves. They were led by a trio of Holly Harris, Liz Finley and Lexi Milesky, who combined for 14 shots. The Vikings, on the other hand, had just nine shots the entire game and six in regulation.

Ohio’s 16 corner kicks were also a season-high, while Cleveland State had only two corner kick opportunities the entire game. Ohio goalie Mattie Liston played all 110 minutes and made three saves.

The tie ends Ohio’s four-game winning streak, but the Bobcats remain undefeated on the road this season. Their last loss came Aug. 30 against DePaul.

The Bobcats’ next game is next Friday, Sept. 27, against Bowling Green at home. They defeated the Falcons, 1-0, last season. Bowling Green was 0-5-0 in nonconference play heading into Friday night.
