Trimble remains undefeated for another week after taking down the Meigs Marauders, 16-0, Friday night at Farmers Bank Stadium.

The Marauders came into the game searching for their third win of the season, and the crowd’s excitement resounded through the complex. In the opening minutes of the first quarter, signs pointed toward a possible upset of the Tomcats. Meigs’ defense started the game on the right foot, holding Trimble’s explosive offense back. Trimble decided to go for a fourth down conversion in the first quarter, but soon called a timeout after facing a loud Marauders crowd and punted.

Meigs responded by trying to move the ball through the air on offense. Marauder quarterback Kaleb Sheetz completed some key passes early on but finished the night 9-for-22 with only 78 yards. After steadily shifting the ball up the field through the air, the Marauders coughed up the ball with two minutes left in the first quarter, and Trimble recovered.

The fumble gave way to a 71-yard Konner Standley touchdown pass to Austin Downs.

Standley and Downs’ chemistry on Friday night proved to be unstoppable for the Meigs squad. The two connected six times for 158 receiving yards on the night. Standley showed off his arm with 210 passing yards.

Meigs got an opportunity to answer when they forced and recovered a fumble with 7:49 remaining before halftime. However, the Tomcats defense silenced the crowd with a sack, driving Meigs to hand over the ball once again.

The turnover led to yet another Tomcat touchdown drive. After stomping down the field, running back Jacob Koons shook off some defenders and stepped in the end zone, making the Tomcat lead 14-0 at the half.

Coming out of the locker room, Meigs failed to pump up their offensive production. After forcing a punt, the Marauders ended up with the ball on their own 2-yard line The Tomcat defense took advantage of the situation and caused a safety, bringing the score to 16-0.

The score would not change through the rest second half. Regardless of Meigs’ efforts, the Trimble defense never offered much.
