Freshman Peyton White was named Mid-American Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, according to a press release from the league office on Thursday.
In only his second career tournament, White posted his first career top-10 finish at the Wolf Run Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, shooting a six-over 219 overall, which left him tied for seventh place.
White’s tournament was highlighted by a three-under 68 that he carded in round two on Saturday, and according to OhioBobcats.com is the lowest score by a men’s golfer in over a year.
This season, White leads the team, and also tied for fourth in the MAC, with a 73.00 scoring average over the first two tournaments.
White and the rest of the men’s golf team will hit the links again on Oct. 7-8 at for the Firestone Invitational in Akron, Ohio.
