Ohio Battles With High-Ranked Foes At Notre Dame Invitational

The Bobcat men finished in seventh place in the Gold Division race and the women placed 16th in the Blue Division race, both at the 58th Annual Notre Dame Invitational on Friday night.

On the men's side, senior Chase Robinson led the charge with a time of 26:05.9, which earned him the 22nd overall place. Juniors Kurt Steinmuller and Jacob Stephens both finished with strong performances with times of 26:41.6 and 26:43.6, finishing in 49th and 52nd places overall, respectively. Sophomore Jarrod Genther and senior Brandon O'Malley both finished within a minute of Robinson. Genther put in a time of 26:50.6 to finish 59th overall. O'Malley rounded out the top five for the 'Cats finishing in 64th place overall with a time of 26:52.1.

The Ohio men finished with 231 total team points on the 8-kilometer track. The seventh place finish put the Bobcats above Wabash and Calvin who are ranked 12th and 22nd, respectively, nationally in Division III. The top five men finished all within one minute of each other.

The women competed in the Blue Division race, which held eight nationally ranked Division I schools. Garnering the first Bobcat finish was senior Juli Accurso with a time of 17:41.3, placing her in the 28th overall spot. Sophomore Kayla Scott and junior Morgan Reichert finished within one second of each other to finish 81st and 82nd, respectively, with times of 18:20.5 and 18:20.8. Sophomore Krista Roehlig finished 93rd overall with a time of 18:24.0. Following closely behind was senior Melissa Thompson with a time of 18:31.4 to place her in the 106th overall spot.

The Bobcats finished with 389 overall team points on the 5-kilometer course. The 16th team spot puts them just ahead of Purdue, who is also a ranked team in the Great Lakes Region.

Both the men and women's team will return to action at the Pre-National event in Terre Haute, Ind., on Oct. 19. The men will step off at 11 a.m. and the women's race will begin at 11:45 p.m.
